Your PC Setup

The following Websites explain the method to localize your computer. This will enable your computer to display and input in your target East Asian languages (e.g., Chinese, Japanese, etc.). For localizing your computer for Russian, follow the direction provided by your instructor rather than the direction below.

Windows Vista

Go to Windows Vista Help and click on the following items or directly jump to the last "Change Language" below.

  1. Click on Desktop and Personalization.
  2. Click on Change Language.

Windows XP

Visit the Windows XP Documentation Page at Microsoft Technet, and click on "Add Language Support".

Windows 2000

Windows 98/ME

Macintosh

For Mac OS OS X (10.3 or higher preferred), you open System Preferences and select "International" and choose your target language there. You may need to install additional fonts using the appropriate Mac OS X install disc.

For more help, go to Help menu of Finder and enter "input method" to display more information. You will need to check the appropriate "Input Menu" for your language.

For earlier versions, visit AppleCare Support and enter the search for "multilingual" within the knowledge base. Look for help documents that matches your OS version.
